Implementation of RTI law will ensure good governance, transparency and a tool to eliminate corruption: Dr Jabbar Khattak

KARACHI: Secretary General Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) Dr Jabbar Khattak sharing his views with participants of Focus Group Discussion held at CPNE Secretariat.

KARACHI, Jul 13: A Focus group discussion held at CPNE secretariat today on Monday. This focus group discussion was the opening of the initiative to strengthen media capacity on the implementation and utilization of Right to Information (RTI) Law for practicing Transparency and Accountability regarding all affairs of Govt. of Sindh.

This Focus Group Discussion is aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude and perceptions of government transparency and the media’s access to information and to share practice and experience within existing Freedom of Information framework.

Around 25 participants including Editors, Journalists and bloggers from various fields actively contributed to show their knowledge about RTI laws in Sindh and suggested the diversities in the drafted replicated bill.

Consensus was built among the participants for the promulgation of RTI bill drafted by the civil society organizations network and to create awareness among masses for the enactment and proper utilization of RTI law.

General Secretary CPNE Dr Jabbar Khattak concisely explained the role of CPNE through this initiative and committed every support for development of such noble cause
