Media specially editors committed fir promulgation of newly drafted RTI bill


Dr Khattak explained struggles towards capacity building of journalists

KARACHI, Jul 15: A Focus group discussion held on Wednesday 15th July 2015 at CPNE secretariat. This focus group discussion was the part of the initiative to strengthen media capacity on the implementation and utilization of Right to Information (RTI) Law for practicing Transparency and Accountability.

Participation from numerous publications showed their concern with the issue of RTI law implementation. All participants were committed to contribute in this campaign of promulgation of newly drafted RTI bill. They also promised to work with transparency in their own organizations and to build up their own capacities by attending media capacity building trainings through these projects.

Aamir Mehmood Member Standing Committee CPNE raised the idea to add RTI law’s knowledge to be included in the curriculum for media students. Constructive journalism requires sacrifices struggle is necessary to bring change for a better environment. He appreciated the participants for their will to know and to seek freedom of information.

Dr. Jabbar Khattak Secretary General CPNE explained that we have extended our struggle to the capacity building of journalists specially editors for approaching appropriate information sources and to turn out the genuine information under the umbrella of a lawful act.
