MIRPURKHAS, Jul 27: Heavy intermittent rainfall hit the Mirpurkhas and other towns of the district causing inundation of the main roads and streets while drainage system was collapsed here on Monday. Report said that intermittent heavy rainfall started on sunday night that remained continue intermittently till monday noon as result rainy water was accumulated at the main roads and streets in the city and low lying areas were submerged under knee deep rainy water. Efficiency of Municipal committee Mirpurkhas was exposed with standed rainy water at roads and streets of the city. Rainy water entered also houses in Pak colony , Bhansinghabad, Khaar para, Khari quarter, Khad plot, Rajar colony, vegetable market area, Mehran colony, Mehmoodabad, Walkart , Gulshan colony, Meghwar Para etc. Complaints regarding accumulated rainy and sewerage water was increased in the city. As the rainfall started on sunday night power supply was suspended to the city and other towns of the district including Mirwah Gorchani, Digri Tando Jan Muhammad, Jhuddo, Naokot, Kot Ghulam Muhammad, Jhilori, Khaan, Sindhri, Phuladyyoon, Hingorno etc. Power supply could not be restored to the city till filing of the news. Same above conditions of roads and streets prevailed in above towns of the district. An official of MCM told that there was issue of power supply and said that without power diesal pumping machines were drain out the stagnent water with slow speed while electricity pumping machines installed at the sewerage pumping stations were worked in speed as result accumulated rainy water was being drained out with slow process.
City circles and NGOs have strongly condemned the efficiency of MCM and alleged that they were already aware due to inefficiency of MCM as mostly funds have allegedly been misappropriating through fake bills and district administration had been failed to clean the sewerage Nullahs and Dhoro Puran of the city premises as chocked gutters were overflowing and garbage was filled in sewerage Nullahs of the city. They demanded the Sindh chief minister, chief secretary and secretary local government to take immediate notice of inefficiency of MCM and ensure immediate draining out the accumulated rainy water from the roads , streets and localities making live miserabal to the citizens and punish the responsible officers.
