Pervaiz says he’s feeling safe in Karachi now

KARACHI, Jul 31: Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid on Friday said that Karachi had once again become a ‘city of lights’ buzzing with economic/social activities.
“Karachi’s joys, pleasures, and peace have been restored after a long period. Karachiites celebrated this Eid-ul-Fitr without having to worry about the law and order situation . Markets and shopping centres witnessed a large number of shoppers every day till midnight during the Ramazan,” Rashid told reporters outside Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry.
Talking to media after attending a meeting of Judicial Commission, Rashid, said it was evident from his addressing this roadside press conference without any fear that Karachi had finally become safe city.
“The hustle and bustle of Karachi will now continue forever. Likewise, peace will be restored across the country and people will lead a safe and dignified life while contributing towards the nation’s prosperity and development,” the minister said adding,” Not only educational institutions but the places of worship are also safe now.”
Rashid praised the role of military and civil law enforcing agencies in the fight against terrorism as well as their sacrifices for in the line of duty adding he said the country’s present was far better then the past.
“There has been a drastic fall in the terrorists attacks only because the armed forces are hunting them down one by one, he added.
To a question, the minister said that on the Prime Minister’s directives, a government team comprising senior politicians was persuading the leadership of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Jammiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) (JUI-F to withdraw their motions in the National Assembly for de-seating of Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf (PTI) members for their long absence from the House.
