Speech tantamount waging war against country
ISLAMABAD, Aug 2: Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has strongly condemned the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain’s recently speech and termed it tantamount to waging a war against the country.
According to media reports, he stated this during a press conference here on Sunday. “Speeches made from London have crossed limits of all the principles, laws and regulations,” he added.
He said that MQM Chief used objectionable language against the state institutions particularly the armed forces. He said the language used by Altaf Hussain was not that of any patriotic Pakistani.
Responding a question, he said that government is reviewing all aspects of Altaf Hussain’s speeches and the issue will be raised with the British government legally. He said it was the UK authorities which have registered money laundering and Imran Farooq murder cases and not the Pakistan government. The Minister said Pakistan will fully cooperate with the UK government in the probe of both the cases.
Answering another question interior minister has brushed aside the notion that MQM is being targeted in the operation against criminals in Karachi.  Chaudhry Nisar said that Karachi operation is not against any political party and is being carried out across the board to restore peace in the city. He said the operation has brought peace to the city as the incidents of kidnapping for ransom have totally been controlled.
He said a number of culprits belonging to different political parties have been arrested but no one except MQM has criticized the Karachi operation. He said that civil and military leadership is on same page regarding the Karachi operation.
Moreover he dispelled the perception that the ongoing operation in Karachi is targeting only MQM. “No political party including MQM is being targeted in the Karachi crackdown; the operation is being pursued indiscriminately against all the criminal elements,” he explained.  Chaudhry Nisar reaffirmed the government’s resolve to eliminate terrorism from the country at all costs.
