Man dies after jumping off burning building

LAHORE: Rescue workers evacuating the people stranded in a building after fire erupted in a plaza in Ichra, Lahore.

LAHORE, Aug 11: A man was killed when he jumped from a multi-storey building to escape fire that left two others injured in Lahore on Tuesday.
According to rescue 1122 and fire officials, an intense blaze broke out in Gold Mines commercial plaza located in Lahore’s Ichhra area.
Caused by electrical short circuit, the blaze engulfed two floors of the 11-storey building, trapping nearly 50 people inside.
However, firefighters and Rescue 1122 personnel timely reached the scene and brought the flames under control, evacuating 48 people from the onfire building.
Rescue officials said a man lost his life when he jumped off the building to escape the inferno. The victim could not be identified.
They said two people, who were among those successfully rescued, suffered burn injuries and were shifted to hospital.
