Review meeting on the progress of distance education program


KHAIRPUR, Aug 11: A review meeting regarding the progress of Distance Education Program (DEP) of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur was held at Vice Chancellor secretariat.
Prof. Dr. Chandan Lal Rohra, Director, DEP briefed the Higher education Commission’s team about the salient features of the program. He said, it is the effective device against the copy culture. He said, those students who could not attend the classes in semester system are getting quality education at Shikarpur, Dadu, Sukkur and Larkana centers. He briefed the team about the awareness campaign, facilities and infrastructure available at centers. He demanded from HEC team to allocate appropriate amount for the smooth running of Directorate.
Mr. Muneer Ahmed Mirjat, Deputy Director, Quality Assurance, HEC, Islamabad emphasis on learning management system at the centers for the proper use of technology in the transformation of quality education and conduct the online lectures. He suggested that proper standard operating procedure (SOP) may be adopted on weekly basis to get the feedback from the students in order to enhance the learning and critical thinking of the students.
Ms. Fakiha Zafar, Higher Education, Quality Improvement Specialist, HEC, Islamabad remarked that World Bank team will visit Pakistan in the month of September 2015 to review the progress and will conduct video conference sessions with faculty members, students and will examine the course contents of the program.
The team of HEC felt entire satisfaction over the working mechanism of the Distance Education Program and appreciated the contribution rendered by its Director Dr. Chandan Lal.
Later on, the team called on Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah. On this occasion, Dr. Parveen Shah praised the efforts of Chairman, HEC, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed for his timely support to SALU in grant and moral support. Dr. Shah remarked, we have launched this program recently. The purpose of this program is capacity building of the students and to promote the quality education at the doorstep.
Prof. Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, Advisor to Vice Chancellor on Planning & Development, Prof. Dr. Taj Mohammad Lashari, Media Coordinator, Dr. Salman Bashir Memon, Deputy Director, DEP and Mr. Mohammad Ibrahim Khokhar, Assistant Director, DEP attended the meeting.
