MINISTER OF COMMERCE OF THAI MET WITH CE TDAP SM MUNEER, SECRETARY TDAP & ADDL SECRETARY MINISTRY OF COMMERCE
KARACHI, Aug 12: A 19 member trade delegation headed by Gen. Chatchai Sarikulya Minister of Commerce of the Royal Thai Government visited Karachi. Chief Executive, TDAP Mr. S.M Muneer along with Secretary TDAP, Ms. Rabiya Javeri Agha & Additional Secretary Ministry of Commerce, Ms. Roubina Ather extended a warm welcome to the delegates and said that it is a pleasure to exchange trade delgations for trade promotion and business to business interactions. Thai Minister of Commerce appreciated the opportunity to meet with the representatives from TDAP, MOC and the business community of Pakistan. He emphasized on the importance of FTA and said that Thailand and Pakistan have developed a strong trade relationship to the extent that the FTA negotiations can be declared, which exemplifies the commitment made by both governments to create long lasting economic partnership between Thailand and Pakistan. He further declared that the Thai-Pakistan FTA is launched at an opportune time. Besides our bilateral trade, Thailand and Pakistan can also enhance our trade and investment through regional trade agreements.
CE TDAP stated that Thailand is a very important trading partner of Pakistan and appreciated the launching of FTA with Thailand.  He further said that Thailand is our 39th largest export destination and 13th largest import source. Our bilteral trade volume is growing with a modest rate of 5% per annum. Thailand is the 22nd top importer of the world, having an import market of US$ 227 billion, is not only a huge market but a much open economy where tremendous potential is available for Pakistani products. He urged business community of both the countries to come forward for enhancement of trade and investment relations and hope that exchange of delegations will help pave the way to even more vigorous economic exchange between Pakistan and Thailand.
