Rich tributes paid to legendary scholar Ibrahim Joyo on his 100th birthday


KARACHI, Aug 13:  Senior Minister for Information irrigation Nisar Ahmed Khuhro giving ajrak to renowned Scholar Muhammad Ibrhim Joyo on the occasion of his centennial celebrations (100th birthday) at arts council on Thursday 13th august.
Legendary writer, intellectual and scholar, Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo is celebrated his 100th birthday with his family and friends. He was paid rich tributes on his century-long contribution to Sindhi language and literature.
Ibrahim Joyo was born in the village of Abad near Laki, Kotri. He is considered the living legend of Sindhi literature, who has written, translated and edited hundreds of books and brochures. He entered the 100th year of his life on August 13.
Muhammad Ibrahim Joyo got his early education from his village. He got education from Luki and Sann. He passed Matriculation from Sindh Madarsatul Islam in 1934. He passed B.A. in 1938 from DG Sindh College; University of Bombay. He went to Bombay for TP education.
Muhammad Ibrahim Joyo wrote a book entitled Save Sindh, Save the Continent. He was appointed as secretary of Sindhi Adabi Board in 1951. He retired from his job in 1961. Again he was offered the same job a number of times. He was secretary of Sindhi Adabi Board till 1973. He was also involved with Sindh Textbook Board. He also served as Chairman of the Sindhi Adabi Board.
He has translated and written a number of books. He has many translations of famous European books to his credit. He has been writing on Sindh and Sindhi for 70 years.  He has also written many story books and text books for school children, prefaces, debates and a lot of essays.
