KP Assembly witnesses flag hoisting ceremony, CM leaves without address

PESHAWAR:Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Parvez Khattak hoisting the natinal flag during a ceremony to celebrate the Independence Day of Pakistan.

PESHAWAR, Aug 14:  To celebrate 68th Independence Day of Islamic Republic of Pakistan with national zeal and fervor, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government held the central flag-hoisting ceremony at the lawns of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly here at Friday. Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak was the chief guest who hoisted the national flag.
The function, held under the auspices of Peshawar Municipal Corporation, was attended by the Acting Speaker, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Aneesa Zeb Tahirkheli,  provincial ministers, advisors and special assistants to the chief minister, parliamentary leaders and secretaries, members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly including women and minority MPAs, the Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, other high-ranking civil and police officers, newly elected local councilors, office bearers of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf, the PTI Youth Wing activists, prominent social and political figures, members of the civil society organizations, and a large number of the people hailing from all walks of life.
At the outset of the ceremony, silence was observed by all participants followed by the formal flag hoisting by the Chief Minister Pervez khattak who was accompanying by the Speaker, provincial ministers, chief secretary and the IG police.
On this occasion rose petals were showered from the air by a helicopter while the KP Police Band presented musical compositions of the national songs amidst big applause.
Several national songs, sung by children of Peshawar Municipal School, were largely appreciated. Chief Minister also joined a group of the singing children and commended their impressive performance by awarding them cash awards.
A cultural troupe of the Frontier Constabulary on this occasion presented the famous Mahsood dance which was also appreciated by the participants. The chief Minister and the participants prayed for integrity and prosperity of the country and eternal peace for the martyrs of the Police, Pak Army and children of Army public School who sacrificed their precious live for peace and tranquility of the motherland.
