LAHORE, Aug 18: Accountability court has on Tuesday extended Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Qasim Zia’s physical remand to 6 more days in a corruption case worth millions of rupees. Large number of PPP workers was also present outside the court in order to express solidarity with Qasim Zia on this occasion.
According to details, Qasim Zia arrived at the accountability court amid PPP workers’ slogans in his favor. The workers had also gathered outside the court in large numbers. They termed the case against Qasim Zia as political and demanded his immediate release.
NAB Punjab presented Qasim Zia before Accountability court and told the court that Qasim Zia was involved in corruption worth millions of rupees in connivance with a private company. NAB told the court that the citizens were not even paid their original amount, let alone the profits. On these grounds, NAB demanded further extension in PPP leader’s physical remand.
The court was told by Qasim Zia that all the allegations against him were baseless.
After listening to both the sides, the court extended Qasim Zia’s physical remand to 6 more days.
