Khairpur, Aug 28: An M. Phil seminar was held in the Department of Archaeology, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over by Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Faiz Kazi, Dean, Faculty of Natural & Physical Sciences. Mr. Abdul Rauf Kakepoto, Research Scholar delivered the seminar under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mastoor Fatima Bukhari on the topic Archaeology of Uddyana with reference to Guru Padma Sambhaya. Mr. Kakepoto while summarizing his research work said, the Uddyana (Old name of the Swat) as a contemporary heritage complex has its unique model other than Gandhara civilization. He said, the archaeologists have ignored Uddyana during research. He said, this is the region which remained till last having Buddhist practice. He revealed that Guru Padma Sambhaya has a significant status in Tibet, Nepal, and Bhutan along the Himalayan region. Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Faiz Kazi, Dean, Faculty of Natural & Physical Sciences appreciated the efforts of Department of Archaeology in the promotion of research culture. She said, the work of research scholar is excellent. It will help the new researchers on Buddhist period. Prof. Dr. Mastoor Fatima Bukhari said, the research work presented by Mr. Kakepoto has great significance. He said, he has classified the sites and history of the region with reference to Buddhist heritage. The scholar has also highlighted the Chakdara or even lower Swat valley. Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaque Mahar, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell appreciated the work of the scholar and suggested some of the technical input in addition. Prof. Dr. Nisar Ahmed Kanhar, Director, Post Graduate Studies said, the scholar has conducted research on the ancient civilization and heritage. Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mohiuddin Veesar, Chairman, Department of Archaeology said, the scholar’s research work is based on survey methodology. He said, this research work will be value-added in the Department of Archaeology. The seminar was declared as successful. Prof. Dr. Qasid Hussain Mallah, Prof. Dr. Amir Ali Chandio, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hassan Khaskheli, Prof. Dr. Ahmeddin Rajpar, Prof. Ayaz Gul, Dr. Ikhtiar Ali Ghumro, Dr. Tajnees Pirzada, Ms. Tasleem Alam Abro, Dr. Mahar Khadim, researchers and students attended the seminar.
