Peshawar, Dec.16: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said on Wednesday that it was high time to root out terrorism.
Addressing a ceremony in connection with first anniversary of Army Public School tragedy in Peshawar on Wednesday, he said Operation Zarb-i-Azb has broken the back of terrorists. He said the day is not far-off when terrorism will be completely eliminated.
The Prime Minister said the 16th December incident has united the whole nation and determined the future course for Pakistan.
He announced to observe this day as the Day of National Resolve to promote Education. He said we have to eradicate the darkness of obscurantism and lay the foundation of Pakistan, depicting on love, affection and tolerance.
Nawaz Sharif paid tributes to the armed forces for waging a valiant campaign against terrorism under the leadership of Army Chief General Raheel Sharif.
He said the people are also fighting shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces against terrorism and are rendering tremendous sacrifices.
He said the Government and security forces are making serious efforts to wipe out crimes and restore peace in Karachi.
The Prime Minister said the Government is determined to hand over a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan in line with the dreams of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Earlier, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif welcomed parents of Martyrs at the gate of Army Public School Peshawar.
Azad Kashmir, Prime Minister, Chaudhry Abdul Majeed Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Balochistan, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak, Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan, Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan Abbasi distributed medals and certificates among parents of martyred students.
Students of School paid rich tributes to their martyrs class fellows and highlighted their exceptional qualities and attributes as well.
