Rally against likely withdrawal of minority protection bill

HYDERABAD, Feb 2: Sindh Progressive Committee took out rally here Thursday to protest against possible withdrawal full or in part of Minority Protection .

The rally was joined by Communist Party of Pakistan,Awami Workers Party, Awami Jamhoori Party and Jeay Sindh Mahaz. The bill passed by Sindh Assembly two months back has not been signed to law by Sindh governor and late governor Saeedzaman Siddiqui had returned it back to assembly for amendment. Addressing rally convener CPP comrade Imdad Kazi, provincial secretary comrade Iqbal, president Awami Jamhoori Party Wishnumal, president Awami Workers Party Buxul Thalho and Akbar Khoso of Jeay Sindh Mahaz urged government to immediately enforce the bill which was symbol of traditional brotherhood and tolerance of Sindh culture. They said bill was passed unanimously as such any particular party has no right to bring amendments in it to appease its mentors.
They said whole country was in grip of religious extremism due to opportunism of rulers and political parties. They said whole world was raising fingers towards Pakistan with reference to terrorism and now even UNO has also expressed concern on it. They demanded not only bill be enforced in Sindh but legislation be made in whole country.
