BADIN: Most of our social and economic problems stem from the problem of having a huge population.
The need of public awareness regarding importance of family planning and the public motivation campaign across the district, preventing early marriages should be considered as prior.
This was expressed by Riaz Ahmed Shar, District Population Officer, Population Welfare Department district Badin while addressing a seminar on the eve of the World Population Day, which was held under the auspices of Population Welfare Department, district Badin on Tuesday at Gym Khana Hall Badin.
Hundreds of participants, including male and female employees of the population department, district administration, citizens, doctors and representatives of the civil society participated the seminar.
While addressing the participants, Riaz Ahmed Shar maintained that the day was celebrated for highlighting the importance of family planning in relation with poverty, maternal health and human rights.
Addressing the seminar Dr. Afsheen expressed that poor maternal health, gender-based abuse and gender inequality can be linked to poor awareness about family planning. On the occasion, Dr. Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi, Dr. Abdullah Soomro, Nadia Soomro and others also addressed the seminar.
Earlier, Population Welfare Department Badin was also organized an awareness raising rally led by Dr. Mehboob Khawaja, DHO Badin and Riaz Ahmed Shar, District Population officer, Badin and participated by the hundreds of the participants including employees of population welfare departments, health department and representatives of civil society.
