Three including suicide bomber killed in Peshawar blast
PESHAWAR: At least three people were dead and some 32 injured in a suicide bomb blast at the vehicle of US Consulate at Aabdara Road situate at Red Zone.
The sources said that one of the dead bodies could be of the suicide bomber. The one deceased was the employee of US Consulate traveling in unfortunate Land Cruiser vehicle but his nationality was not known.
The four security personnel deputed at the US Consulate including in-charge Pervez Khan , Constable Farooq Khan, Farhan, Akram , two US nationals and two Pakistani staffers of US Consulate and other people were injured , who were rushed to the hospital.
The bomb disposal squad told the media that the terrorists used approximately 100 kg of explosive and the blast was so powerful that not only caused a five feet deep ditch on the ground and the targeted vehicle got fire but also shattered the window panes of the nearby buildings.
The security staff told the investigators that a white color car entered and suddenly blast took place.
Provincial Minister Mian Iftilhar has confirmed the death of two American nationals in the blast .He said that terrorists’ wants to convey message that foreign embassies might be closed in the country.
Senior Provincial Minister Bashir Bilour said that terrorism should be crushed from its roots otherwise it would be continued to spread out. He said that those who can afford should arrange their own security.
Federal Minister Arbab Alamgir said that the target of the terrorists was a high profile as they wanted to proliferate sabotage at large scale. He said that government would fight against terrorists till their complete eradication.
The source said that after the blast on embassy’s vehicle, two cars of diplomatic corps were returned from Peshawar motorway toll plaza to Islamabad in which head of UNESCO in Pakistan Denis King was traveling and staff of US Embassy.
